On January 26th 2021 the television series Eco Eye aired with the subject title “Radiation the Silent Killer”. The last section of this programme featured Eugene Monahan from All Clear Radon. During this segment of the show Eugene talks about his design for a stack and ventilator to assist in the ventilation of radon gas from houses.
Enniscorthy Fablab have been working with Eugene for the past 15 months to design both parts of the Ventilator. When the prototype was created the two parts were joined together to create the completed ventilator. The final ventilator prototype received extremely favourable results in a wind test analysis laboratory.
Eugene is now working in conjunction with Wexford Co. Council to carry out a pilot test on the stack and ventilator on a new housing estate is Taghmon Co. Wexford. Eugene inquired if Enniscorthy FabLab would be capable to assist him in producing 18 radon ventilators for the top of the stack. The Enniscorthy FabLab in conjunction with the New Ross FabLab produced all 18 ventilators, which added up to a total of seven weeks of continuous work for two 3D printers.
