Technical Employability Skills (Bridging)

The aim of the course is to enable the learner to develop the skills knowledge and competencies to: complete a range of wall and floor tiling, painting and decorating activities, use a range of hand tools and power tools; understand the terminology, drawings and diagrams used in woodturning, use a range of woodturning tools and equipment correctly and safely and engage effectively in personal career preparation and planning, in a supervised environment.
The learner will also develop an awareness in Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) for new dwellings and NZEB Retrofit

On completion of the training programme learners will be able to:

1-INDUCTION
State the planned outcomes and the conditions attached to attendance on the course; apply good safety, health and hygiene practices; state the basic principle involved in environmental issues and explain the meaning of equal opportunities.

To use a range of hand tools and power tools under supervision to complete a variety of woodwork projects in a workshop environment

3-WOODTURNING 3N0590
Use a range of woodturning tools and equipment correctly and safely under supervision in the workshop.

4-FLOOR AND WALL TILING 3N0523
Complete a range of wall and floor tiling activities in a supervised environment.

5-PAINTING AND DECORATING 3N0562
Complete a range of painting and decorating tasks in a supervised environment.

6-SAFEPASS
Work on construction sites without being a danger to themselves or others.

7-CAREER PLANNING AND JOB SEEKING SKILLS
Plan and achieve realistic work goals.

8-IN COMPANY
Participate effectively in a work environment under general supervision during a work experience placement.

9- NZEB FUNDAMENTAL AWARENESS
Understand the general principles and practices of Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) for new dwellings.

10- NZEB RETROFIT
Understand the general principles and practices of NZEB-Retrofit
