The aim of this programme is to provide learners with the basic skills and related knowledge to work in the hospitality sector including the restaurant and bar service, café service and other food and beverage outlets

Start Date: 13-01-2025 Hours/week: 31 Hrs 15 Mins Duration: 5 weeks
While there are no specific entry requirements, centres must ensure that learners have the academic ability to successfully complete the programme. Junior Certificate or similar.
Also good level of English language required
Age Requirements
Must have reached the statutory school leaving age
Learning Aptitude
Basic numeracy and literacy skills required.
Have good verbal and written English.
Previous Experience
Previous experience in the hospitality sector would be an advantage but not essential.

1- INDUCTION
State the planned outcomes and the conditions attached to attendance on the course; apply good safety, health and hygiene practices; state the basic principle involved in environmental issues and explain the meaning of equal opportunities.
2- BARISTA SKILLS
Demonstrate the full range of products used in making beverages, having the knowledge where the products come from, and some of the processes they go through, from growing to the final drink. Being able to demonstrate the importance of taking care of the products in order to provide an excellent final result.
3 – MANUAL HANDLING AND FIRE SAFETY
Demonstrate the required knowledge and skills to manually lift and move objects and loads safely and to also deal with fire on an emergency basis. To emphasise the danger of fire, the importance of prevention and the necessity of urgent action when fire breaks out.
4 – FOOD SAFETY AND HYGIENE
Demonstrate the food safety skills required to meet the requirements of the Food Safety of Ireland, Food Safety Level 2 standard.
5- FIRST AID RESPONDER
Demonstrate the required knowledge and skills to be a First Aid Responder
6- CAREER PLANNING AND JOB SEEKING SKILLS
Plan and achieve realistic work goals.
