Office Administration with IT

Programme Aim
This one-year Level 5 Award course is designed to provide learners with a high level of proficiency in administrative, business and IT skills. It caters for those at entry level or those wishing to upskill and/or change career/return to the workplace. Learners will develop general office skills and become technically proficient in an administration / office environment. Once this course is completed learners would be ready to go straight into employment if they wish, or pursue further education in a related area.

Higher Education Progression
Learners can pursue further qualifications at Level 6, 7 or 8. A Career Guidance Counsellor is available throughout the year for one-to-one mentoring and to assist with applications to further education facilities.

Work Placement
Learners must find and complete work experience placements in the business area – this will consist of a 2-week block, at a specified period during the academic year. This enables learners to gain valuable experience in the sector preparing them for employment.

Education Requirements
NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme.
CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English
Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway

Minimum statutory school leaving age (16+)


Learning Aptitude
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.


Previous Experience
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.
