Applied Ecology
Programme Aim
The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to independently and under supervision analyse, quantify and report on the physical and biological diversity of an eco-system and or to progress to further or higher education or training.

Start Date: 26-08-2025 Hours/week: 20 Hrs 00 Mins
NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme.
CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English
Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway

Minimum statutory school leaving age (16+)
Learning Aptitude
Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competencies to independently and under supervision analyse, quantify and report on the physical and biological diversity of an eco-system and or to progress to further or higher education or training.
Employability Statement
The successful completion of the QQI Major Level 5 Award in Applied Ecology will enable applicants to source employment at entry level in a laboratory and work independently and / or under supervision analysing, quantifying and reporting on the physical and biological diversity of an eco-system in the workplace.
