Programme Aim

This is a level 6 awared – second year after completing level 5 award.
The aim of this programme is to enable the learner acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work independently and or in a management or supervisory role within animal related industries and or to transfer or progress to programmes leading to Higher Education and Training Awards.

Employability Statement
The successful completion of the QQI Level 6 award in Animal Science will enable applicants to work independently and or in a management or supervisory role within animal related industries. Applicants will be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of the husbandry and management requirements of a variety of animals as used in specific animal related businesses to include management of health, nutrition, housing behaviours and welfare together with management strategies, business organisation and personal relations relevant to the diverse animal related industries.

Education Requirements
NFQ Level 5 in a relevant discipline when accessing a Level 6 programme.
CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 6 courses for those whose first language is not English
Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway
