2D Computer Aided Design New Ross

To provide learners with skills and related knowledge in two dimensional computer aided design. This programme is an introduction to 2D CAD and is designed to develop learners skills to 2D CAD Level 2 standard.

Education Requirements
It is also essential that learners have good computer skills; which includes file management and the use of word-processing and spreadsheet applications

It is desirable that learners have a leaving certificate standard of education with a pass in a technical drawing subject and maths or that they have achieved an equivalent level of relevant industrial experience or training.


Age Requirements
Applicants must have reached the current statutory school leaving age.


Learning Aptitude
Good spatial aptitude and good form perception are essential as are good numerical and literacy skills.


Previous Experience
Previous relevant technical design or manual draughting experience is desirable

1. Induction
State the planned outcomes and the conditions attached to attendance on the course: apply good safety, health and hygiene practices; states the basic principle involved in environmental issues and explain the meaning of equal opportunities.

2.Unit 202 Computer Aided Design Software
This unit will equip candidates with an understanding of the CAD 2D drawing techniques, enable the learner to develop the knowledge and skills to create sketches, understand how to create a drawing layout and enable the learner to develop the knowledge and skills to generate, export, import and edit advanced models.

3. Career Planning and Job Seeking Skills
Plan and achieve realistic work goals.

4. CAD System Justification, Installation and Configuration
Plan, Assess and implement a network install of CAD software. Students will also customize and configure the new software for various setups.

5. 3D Printing
Use 3D Printing to create models for a wide range of technical disciplines, such as manufacturing, product design and architecture.

6. In-Company
Demonstrate a broad range of occupational competencies in a real work environment.
