Education Requirements
Applicants wishing to participate in the Course should be qualified carpenters and have previously obtained a Level 6 of the NQAI Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery Craft Practice or equivalent.
Attendees should bring their National Craft Cert/Card or equivalent for registration purposes, and as a confirmation of their trade.

Age Requirements
Applicants must have reached the current statutory school leaving age.


Learning Aptitude
Aware of Health and Safety requirements for working in the Carpentry and Joinery Trade.

On completion of the training programme carpenters will be able to:

1- NZEB PRINCIPLES, BUILDING REGULATIONS AND PRODUCT STANDARDS
Understand the Principles relevant to NZEB, Building Regulations and Product Standards

2- BUILDING PHYSICS
Understand Building Physics- – Key energy terms and units

3- BUILDING FABRIC
Understand Building Fabric – Continuous Insulation, Thermal Bridging, Air Permeability, Windows and Doors.

4- BUILDING SERVICES
Understand Building Services – Space heating and Domestic Hot Water, Controlled Ventilation, Lighting, ICT and Smart Technology

5- RENEWABLE ENERGY, PHOTO-VOLTAICS, SMART METERING AND ELECTRIC
Understand Renewable Energy, Photo-Voltaics, Smart Metering and Electric Vehicles relevant to ZEB

6- COMMUNICATION AND USER INFORMATION
Understand the required knowledge to facilitate high quality Communication and Best Practice User Information
