Psychology and SNA (Community Health Services)

Course Description
This course leads to a QQI Level 5 award in Community Health Services. This course provides learners with the opportunity to engage with the theoretical and practical underpinnings associated with the role of the Special Needs Assistant which will equip them to fulfil a pivotal role in a classroom setting. This course also provides learners, with an interest in psychology, to explore key approaches to understanding human behaviour and facilitate their application to a variety of care professional settings.

Career Opportunities
Upon successful completion of this course, you can pursue employment as an SNA in Primary and Post-Primary Schools.

Higher Education Progression
Upon successful completion of this course, students can apply through the CAO system for a degree in Psychology. The Higher Education Links Scheme offers preferential entry to students who successfully complete a linked FET programme in partner Colleges of Further Education (including Selskar College), and who meet certain criteria.

NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme.
CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English
