Programme Aims
This course covers the First Year syllabus from Accounting Technicians Ireland. The ATI Syllabus can be accessed from their website www.accountingtechniciansireland.ie.
The aim of this programme is to equip candidates with an array of transferable business skills, as well as technical knowledge of finance and accountancy practice. The programme provides candidates with expertise, experience and knowledge in areas such as financial accounting and budgeting, costing and credit control, payroll and tax returns for various types of business entities.

Target Award
ATI Certificate for Accounting Technicians – IATI05
Start Date: 08-09-2025 Hours/week: 20 Hrs 00 Mins Duration: 38 weeks
Leaving Certificate with five passes in Ordinary Level papers. (Passes to include English/ and either Mathematics or Accountancy) or Leaving Certificate with four passes of which at least two are in Higher Level papers. (Passes to include English and either Mathematics or Accountancy) or Learners who are sitting the Applied Leaving Certificate should contact the Registrar (register@AccountingTechniciansIreland.ie) directly for advice on whether they are eligible or Learners under 21 who have successfully completed a nationally recognized qualification such as QQI, QQI (Level 5), QCA or a BTEC National Diploma may also be eligible to apply.
NFQ Level 5 in a relevant discipline when accessing a Level 6 programme.
CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 6 courses for those whose first language is not English
Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway

Good verbal and written communication skills are desirable. Accuracy in the use of numbers.
Appropriate aptitude tests may be applied.

Previous Experience
Previous experience in book-keeping and / or accountancy desirable but not essential. Experience in using web based learning is an advantage.

The successful completion of the Certificate for Accounting Technicians will enable applicants to source a range of accounting and finance positions in such roles as budgeting, costing and credit control, payroll and tax returns.
