The aim of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to
keep bookkeeping records for an organisation. It provides the learner with the knowledge
and understanding of bookkeeping terminology and an introduction to the principles of
bookkeeping and accounts

Education Requirements
No formal education or qualifications are required although applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 3 when accessing a Level 4 programme.

Learning Outcomes
 To create an awareness and gain an understanding of the importance of good record
keeping and importance of credit in the business world.
 To develop skills in accurately completing a range of source documents incorporating a
range of VAT rates.
 To familiarise the learner with the process of preparing outgoing documents.
 To assist the learner to develop skills in the process of completing books of first entry and
posting to ledgers.
 To assist the learner to develop the language, literacy and numeracy skills related to the
workplace through the medium of the module themes and content.
